Italian GP qualifying: Vettel chalks up another

Here’s one we bet you didn’t see coming – Sebastian Vettel will start tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix from pole position. A fairly straightforward session saw the world champion edge out Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren by half a second, with Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso putting in impressive displays to make the second row. Mark Webber and Felipe Massa have got work to do from fifth and sixth, while Petrov, Schumacher, Rosberg and Bruno Senna also made it through to Q3.
It’s all getting a bit silly now, isn’t it? With 10 pole positions from 13 races, Vettel is well on his way to pipping Nigel Mansell’s record of 14 poles in a single season. True, seasons are a tad longer these days but still – there’s a strong chance we’ll see the Red Bull driver’s name etched into F1′s history books by the end of the year.
